Introduction:

Charles Crabtree is a Senior Lecturer in the School of Social Sciences at Monash University and previously served as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Government at Dartmouth College. His research focuses on comparative political economy, with particular emphasis on authoritarian politics, development, and the ways in which economic conditions shape political behavior. Employing both experimental and quantitative methods, his work has been published in leading journals, including American Political Science Review, American Journal of Political Science, and Journal of Politics.
