SPE Joins 2025 Taiwan Education Fair in Indonesia
To expand student recruitment in Indonesia and strengthen Taiwan–Indonesia academic ties, the School of Political Science and Economics at NTU (SPE) participated in the “2025 Taiwan Higher Education Fair Indonesia” from August 8 to 11. Organized by the Ikatan Citra Alumni Taiwan se-Indonesia (ICATI), the event included sessions in Jakarta and Bandung. SPE staff promoted its three master’s programs and received enthusiastic responses from local students and parents.
Indonesia is NTU’s second-largest source of international students and a key market for SPE. In 2025, 4 of 22 international students admitted by SPE are from Indonesia, accounting for nearly 20% of admits. With plans to admit up to 25 international and 5 overseas Chinese students per program in 2026, SPE joined the fair to increase visibility and attract top students.
The event began with a welcome dinner in Jakarta, where guests, including Mr. Hengky Lau, ICATI President, Mr. Yaozhong Kuang, Vice President of ICATI, Dr. Yulong Su, Director of the University Entrance Committee for Overseas Chinese Students, and Mr. Trust Lin, Minister of Taipei Economic and Trade Office in Jakarta, emphasized the importance of Taiwan–Indonesia education cooperation and development. NTU representatives also connected with Indonesian high school educators.

The Jakarta session on August 9 was crowded from day one. Most visitors were high school graduates exploring undergraduate options. At the graduate level, SPE promoted its programs in Political Economy, Finance, and the newly launched Leadership and Management. Students responded positively to the interdisciplinary curriculum, global exchange opportunities, and generous scholarships.

The Bandung session on August 10 attracted both students and professionals. Inquiries ranged from admissions to living expenses and scholarships. SPE’s full and partial tuition waivers and assistantships were well received. SPE also took the opportunity to engage with Taiwan alumni in Indonesia, providing program brochures and sharing updates. The School hopes to leverage alumni networks to support ongoing recruitment efforts.

Overall, the fair significantly boosted awareness of SPE’s programs in Indonesia and highlighted strong alignment with student interests. Continued participation in regional fairs, engagement with top local universities, and development of online consultation services are recommended to strengthen future outreach.
