Spyros Maniatis
Spyros Maniatis
Professor Spyros Maniatis is Honorary Professor of Intellectual Property at Queen Mary University of London (QMUL) and formerly served as Director of the British Institute of International and Comparative Law (BIICL) in London. As Professor of Intellectual Property Law and Head of the Centre for Commercial Law Studies (CCLS) at QMUL, he oversaw significant growth in the Centre’s size, scope, and international reputation. He broadened its research and teaching coverage to include areas like law and economics, shipping, energy, regulation, and art and spearheaded the launch of international programmes, including the CCLS LLM in Paris and double LLMs with the Sorbonne and Singapore Management University. At BIICL he focused on internationalization and new fields like law and technology, trade, and the environment. His research interests include law and technology, trade marks, unfair competition, and the intersection of intellectual property and competition law, and intellectual property in Southeast Asia. He is currently working on the fourth of his major work, Trade Marks in Europe: A Practical Jurisprudence.

Associate Dean

Chia-Wei Kuo
Professor Chia-Wei Kuo serves as the Associate Dean at the School of Political Science and Economics (SPE) at NTU. He is the NTU Excelsior Chair and Professor in the Department of Business Administration, Dean of the School of Professional Education and Continuing Studies (SPECS), and Director of the Case Center at NTU’s College of Management. He earned his Ph.D. in Industrial and Operations Engineering from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. His research interests are in the design and analysis of production and service systems, operations management and marketing interface, supply chain management, revenue management and pricing, and game theory. His work has been published in leading journals such as Operations Research, Production and Operations Management, European Journal of Operational Research, OMEGA. He has been awarded the teaching excellence award of University, the outstanding mentor award, and the Wu-Da-Yao Research Award.

Associate Dean and Director of Center for Industry Partnerships

I-Hsuan Hong
I-Hsuan Hong is a Professor in the Institute of Industrial Engineering at National Taiwan University. He earned his B.S. and M.S. degrees from NTU in 1997 and 1999, respectively, and received his Ph.D. in Industrial and Systems Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology in 2005. His primary research interests focus on the modeling and analysis of sustainability issues, including renewable energy, closed-loop supply chain management, and government subsidies. He has contributed to projects such as a Georgia state–funded study on infrastructure design for electronics recycling networks. In addition to sustainability, his research examines the applications of economics and optimization across supply chains, production systems, and energy sectors. His teaching portfolio includes courses on game theory, optimization, industrial organization, and sustainable operations and value chains. He has also been recognized with the university’s Distinguished Teaching Award.

Hans H. Tung
Professor Hans H. Tung serves as an Interim Associate Dean at the School of Political Science and Economics (NTU). He is also a University Excelsior Chair Professor of Political Science . A Ph.D. graduate in Government from Harvard University, Professor Tung is a non-resident research fellow at the V-Dem Regional Center for East Asia and an Executive Committee Member of Taiwan’s Research Institute for the Humanities and Social Sciences. His research centers on formal and empirical analyses of authoritarian politics and political communication, with publications in top journals such as Political Communication, Public Opinion Quarterly, and Nature Communications. He is a co-winner of the 2022 Kaid-Sanders Best Political Communication Article of the Year Award. In a 2025 global ranking of research productivity of political science departments and scholars, he is ranked the 7th most impactful political scientist in Asia and in the top 3% globally for his recent research.

Bennett Fu
Bennett Fu
Dr. Bennett Yu-Hsiang Fu is the Director of Global Affairs at the School of Political Science and Economics (NTU) and a Professor in the Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures at National Taiwan University. Holding a Ph.D. in English Studies from the Université de Montréal, he specializes in Asian North American literature, comparative literature, and modernism. Professor Fu has extensive teaching and research experience in Taiwan, Canada, and the United States, and previously served as Deputy Vice President at NTU’s Office of International Affairs. In his current role, Dr. Fu advances global collaborations, promotes intercultural engagement, and fosters cross-disciplinary initiatives—ensuring that SPE students and scholars gain valuable international perspectives and contribute meaningfully to today’s interconnected world.

Program Director of Finance
Hsin-Chun Wang
Hsin-Chun Wang
As Professor in Insurance Law, Director of Commercial Law Center, at the College of Law, NTU, Dr. Wallace Hsin-Chun Wang joined the faculty of the College in 2005. He received the Ph.D. from Queen Mary College, University of London in 2002 and has previously worked at the University of Kaohsiung before relocating himself to Taipei. In 2005, his published book-Reinsurance Regulation-A Contemporary and Comparative Study (Kluwer International 2002) was awarded Kulp-Wright Book Award by the American Risk and Insurance Association. In 2016, one of his articles entitled “E-Commerce and Distribution of Insurance Products” has been publised in “The Dematerialized Insurance” by Springer. His research currently concentrates on systemic risk and insurance regulation, E-Commerce and insurance regulation, climate change and insurance, insurance contract law. Professor Wang teaches Insurance Law, Financial Market Regulation, and Maritime Law.

Supervisory Committee
The Supervisory Committee for the School of Political Science and Economics at National Taiwan University comprises 15 members with four-year terms. Its primary role is to oversee the School’s operations and ensure proper governance. Committee membership includes five government-appointed representatives, one graduate student delegate, one student union delegate, two industry representatives, five NTU faculty members, and one external expert. All appointees, except government and student representatives, require the University Council’s approval, thereby granting the Committee authority to provide professional, appropriate supervision. At least one member must possess an auditing background and relevant work experience. Supported by designated NTU personnel, the Committee conducts periodic audits of financial statements, internal controls, and performance, producing annual reports in line with existing NTU auditing regulations and risk management guidelines.

Management Committee
The Management Committee (MC) of the International School of Political Science and Economics at National Taiwan University comprises 15 members serving four-year terms. Its primary mandate is to set the School’s strategic direction, including organizational, personnel, and financial frameworks, which the Dean then implements. The MC is formed according to the Special Act for Key National Fields, with members appointed by the University following approval from the Supervisory Committee. Its composition includes the Dean (ex officio), five government representatives, five industry representatives, three faculty members, and one student representative. The MC’s responsibilities range from nominating or reviewing the Dean’s appointment and overseeing financial planning to approving changes in innovative projects and risk management policies—all aimed at driving sustainable development.
