Applying to SPE What are the academic requirements for applying to SPE?
Undergraduate Programs: Applicants must have at least a high school diploma or its equivalent.
Master’s Programs: Applicants must possess at least a Bachelor’s degree or its equivalent.
PhD Programs: Applicants must hold at least a Master’s degree or its equivalent.

Applying to SPE Is there a professional experience requirement, as in the MBA program?
Depending on the program of interest, professional experience may not be a prioritized requirement for Political Economy, while it would be a valuable asset for Finance. For the Leadership & Management Program, with several years of work experience would be required.

Applying to SPE Information regarding tuition fees:
The tuition fee for international students at SPE is expected to range from 100,000 to 120,000 NTD (approximately 3,200 to 3,800 USD) per semester. This fee is pending approval from the Taiwan Ministry of Education, and the final amount will be announced on the SPE NTU website once confirmed.

Applying to SPE International exchange options:
In addition to exchange options from the Office of International Affairs at NTU, SPE is currently in discussions to establish study abroad and internship programs with leading universities such as Waseda University, Kyushu University, UC Berkeley, Sciences Po, University of St Andrew’s, the University of Melbourne, among others. There will be ample opportunities for quality exchange programs at SPE.

Applying to SPE Is GMAT/GRE required for admission?
While not required, language proficiency is highly necessary as SPE conducts its programs in English.

Applying to SPE Do I need recommendation letters when applying? Can I re-submit the recommendation letters from my GMBA application?
Two recommendation letters are required for the application. We strongly suggest requesting new letters, which should reflect the different programs and conditions.

Programs What are the graduation credit requirements for SPE?
Students in the Political Economy program must complete 30 credits, which consist of 6 credits of interdisciplinary core courses, 15 credits of interdisciplinary electives, and 12 credits in Political Science and Economics. In the Finance program, 33 credits are required, including 6 credits of interdisciplinary core courses, 15 credits of interdisciplinary electives, 9 credits in Finance, and 3 credits for an internship. Both programs mandate a master’s thesis. These curricula aim to provide interdisciplinary knowledge and professional skills, fostering critical thinking and innovative problem-solving for meaningful contributions to international politics and economics.

Tuition fees vary based on your degree type, student status, and college, and are billed each semester (with one academic year consisting of two semesters). Fees & Scholarships Are there scholarships available for SPE students? How do I apply?
A variety of scholarships are available for international students from NTU, the Taiwanese government, various organizations, and individual colleges. Degree-seeking students can find more information on the Scholarships page. Non-degree (exchange and visiting) students should contact their home universities for details. Currently enrolled NTU students can refer to the Scholarships for Current Students page for additional opportunities.

Yes, international students can apply for a work permit, enabling them to undertake paid internships or part-time jobs to support themselves while gaining valuable work experience. Additionally, they may work as teaching assistants, research assistants, or administrative assistants starting in their second year.

Study Abroad Can first-year students apply for the selection process?
Only students who have completed at least one academic year in the SPE program at NTU are eligible to apply for exchange programs.

Internship Are there internships available for international students?
The NTU International Mentorship Program is a customized summer internship initiative that links international students with businesses in Taiwan. It welcomes students from diverse academic backgrounds, including STEM fields, business, and the humanities.

The NTU Career Center provides career aptitude assessments and consultation services to help students identify their strengths and explore potential career paths.
