The School of Political Science and Economics at National Taiwan University curated the course “Global Finance Forum: Conversation with Masters”, led by Mr. YT Du (Adjunct Professor at NTU’s College of Law, Former Chairman of Nan Shan Life Insurance), to explore international political and economic issues while engaging students in insightful dialogues with industry leaders.

 

On November 20, 2024, Jonathan Gray, President & COO of Blackstone, was invited for an exclusive fireside chat. The discussion covered a wide range of topics, including macroeconomic trends, AI-driven investment strategies, and Blackstone’s distinctive corporate culture.

 

Gray shared insights from his 30+ years of industry experience, explaining Blackstone’s thematic investment approach, which focuses on selecting high-quality companies and assets in “good neighborhoods”—sectors backed by strong tailwinds. He emphasized that in talent selection, the key qualities are working harder, caring more, and having an entrepreneurial spirit.

 

Through his personal experiences, Gray passionately encouraged students, sharing his secret to success: “Do a little more than others, and never cease learning.” This well-structured course provided students with both profound and inspiring knowledge, enriching their perspectives and practical insights.
