To enrich students’ global perspective and practical skills, the School of Political Science and Economics at National Taiwan University launched the course “International Finance Forum: Interview with Masters”, led by Mr. YT Du (Adjunct Professor at NTU’s College of Law, Former Chairman of Nan Shan Life Insurance). This course invites prominent figures from the international financial sector to engage with students in discussions on global political and economic trends.

 

On November 16, 2024, Howard Marks, Co-Founder & Co-Chairman of Oaktree Capital Management, was invited by Professor Du to deliver an insightful online lecture. During the session, Marks emphasized that uncertainty is an inherent aspect of investing, especially in today’s turbulent global landscape, making risk management more critical than ever. He pointed out that even if one can predict significant events, market reactions remain unpredictable, highlighting the crucial role of experience and judgment in investment decisions.

 

Marks encouraged students to develop a long-term perspective and sharpen their ability to assess risks when facing future uncertainties. He stressed that continuous learning and improving one’s judgment are the best ways to navigate challenges.
